Course Description: Pronunciation and Listening Comprehension in the Adult ESL Classroom, NRS 3-5
Pronunciation in a new language doesn’t necessarily come naturally or easily. Listening comprehension is not just about regurgitating what was said, but understanding the speaker’s intention. In this workshop, instructors will help students gain an awareness of the quality of their pronunciation and listening comprehension. The presenter(s) will share key resources for teaching pronunciation and other parts of speech clarity such as strong and weak intonation, vowel sounds, consonants, and musical patterns which will connect to teaching listening comprehension. There will be time for participants to share information about how they will use resources from the workshop to incorporate into their current teaching plans. This course is designed for instructors who work with ESOL students who are at the intermediate through advanced level.
