9.29.16 Error Correction and Pragmatics in the Adult ELL Classroom

September 29, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Error correction can be awkward but if the ESOL teacher doesn’t do it, who will? Pragmatics refers to social language skills which vary from one culture to the next. During this interactive workshop ESOL teachers will practice a variety of ways to help students recognize their errors related to grammar, tone, word choice and intent. In addition, participants will learn how to teach cultural norms such as eye contact and the use of formal and informal speech; all of which can impede communication. This workshop will address all parts of language learning: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The participants will leave with ready-to-implement strategies and resources.
