Exploring TASC™ Topics in Mathematics with the TI-30XS MultiView™ Calculator
This 1-day workshop is designed to support educators in helping adult learners achieve success in the mathematics portion of the new Test Assessing Secondary Completion™ (TASC). It covers basic features of the TI-30XS MultiView calculator, with an emphasis on foundational concepts in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics as measured by the TASC.
The TI-30XS MultiView calculator is introduced in the context of core algebraic and geometric concepts. Key features of the TI-30XS MultiView will be covered, including built-in functionality for (x,y) tables of values, one- and two-variable statistics, and conversions between fractions, decimals, and percents. Educators will learn how to use the MathPrint™ feature to display expressions, symbols, and fractions as they appear in TASC items. Necessary mathematics content will be addressed with an emphasis on integrating the technology within the mathematical material. At the conclusion of the workshop, educators should be ready to model TASC strategies and skills using the TI-30XS MultiView calculator.
